Agnostic Ceremony

Introduction

Love is the reason we are here today. In marriage, we not only say I love you today, but also I promise to love you for all of your tomorrows. In the days ahead of you, there will be good times as well as bad, times of conflict and times of joy. I remind you that marriage is a precious gift, a lifelong journey of commitment and a challenge to love one another more completely every day.

Vows

Please join hands and look into each other’s eyes.

_________, with this understanding, do you take ______ to be your husband/wife, to live together in marriage? Do you promise to love, comfort, honor and keep him/her for better or worse, richer or poorer, sickness and in health, and to be faithful only to him/her as long as you both shall live?

(This is where you say I do, or I will or whatever you decide.)

Candle Ceremony (Or other if doing so)
Rings (if you are exchanging rings)

May I have the rings please?

The ring is an unbroken, circle. A symbol of commitment and unending love.

_________, as you place this ring on ________’s finger, repeat these words after me: This ring, my gift to you, shows my desire that you be my husband/wife from this day forward. As this ring has no end neither shall my love for you.

_________ and _________, in your journey of life together, remind yourselves often of the love that brought you together. Give that love your highest priority. When challenges come, remember to focus on what is right and good between you. In this way, you can ride out life’s storms. When those clouds hide the sun in your lives, remember that even when you lose sight of it for a moment, the sun is always there.
